DAEISI TERAZONO.
Challenged to research artists who use dramatic colours and experiment with figures and distortion. The Terrazono brothers use a mixture of cool colours to create very dramatic pieces. I have been most inspired by the colours the brothers have used in their artwork. This depth created within the figure’s faces contrasts with the flat simple backgrounds often depicting much lighter or much darker colours. The figures seen in the Terazono brother’s work are often figurine or mannequin-like, with cut limbs or half-finished features. they are very dramatic and interesting. The figure’s facial features are often slightly distorted and obscure. This creates almost alien-like figures with twisted and odd body positionings.
My Own Work
Below, I have presented my work inspired by the Terazono Brothers. However I experimented with blue tones and colours to create depth within the skin of my subject matter, however, i later developed my ideas into more black-and-white portraits of my dad. I felt the black and white better presented my dad’s personality. I used acrylic paints to almost slap the paint onto the boards, creating blocks of tones and colour, which all together create angular forms that create the figures and faces. I chose not to experiment with figures as I was more focused on facial features and portraits.
